As I sit here in the Vancouver airport watching the fluffy white flakes of snow swirling outside the windows I contemplate how there are times that life can be like a snowstorm. I can’t see too far beyond the nearest airplane and I sit here hoping that the planes will be able to take me to my warm, sunny destination beyond the snowy conditions despite the storm.
How is a snowstorm like your life? Do you ever feel like you are simply moving ahead one blind step after another? You’re not sure of the direction you are headed in or even if there is a destination? The way is not clear to you? Life can very easily turn into a situation like this. Somehow you are managing to get by, coping if you are lucky. As for direction, well life can get too busy to take time to think of direction.
If you have ever lived like this, and believe me - I have, you know that you are not truly living up to your full potential. You know there is more. You want more but you are stretched too far to be able to take control. That is a perfect place to be! When you get to that point, you have reached a divine place in life. Now is the perfect time to stop! Take a break. Go someplace quiet, even if just for a few minutes.
When you are alone and have calmed your mind, take a moment to ask yourself a few very important questions.
- If I were living my ideal life, what would I be doing right now? Take some time to cut through the sarcastic answers and dig deeper till you have answered honestly.
- What are the most valuable things in my life right now? Determine if it is an emotion, a relationship, a possession…. Only you can tell what that most valuable thing is to you.
- Once you have determined the answer to the above 2 questions ask yourself, “What must I do to validate the answers I have discovered?” Those answers are your heart’s cry. You owe it to yourself to live the life you were created to live. That life is within your power to create. All you have to do is take the first step. Once you have taken the first step the next step will open up for you to walk into.
As the airplanes take off into the white oblivion they are guided by an internal GPS system that directs them above the storm clouds and into vast, brilliant sunshine. The way is now clear for them to see. The same principles apply in your life. When you have determined what is important to you and how you would like to live your life you need to take the next step. That step may possibly take courage but as you take that step you are activating your internal GPS system, your guiding purpose.
Break through the clouds and step into the sunshine. It’s a wonderful place to be. A place of clarity and brilliance. You deserve to live your best life today. Take the step that will lead you there.
So for today, find that inner longing and…
Create a Great Day!
